- LOVE Love is a major theme throughout this novel not only when relating to a relationship such as Verity and Jeremy's marriage but also when describing the love for their children. Throughout the novel, Verity is described as a person who is unable to love, however her true ability to love shows through in the end. -LIES Another major theme throughout this book is the abundance of lies that took place. Whether it be lying about being in a coma, or lying about how she truly got into one. This book is based off of what lies can create for a family and a person. -GREIF Greif is a major aspect of this novel because it became to overpowering to control. Verity and Jeremy had twin daughters that they lost unexpectedly at different times. This sudden loss caused an unexpected twist in their lives and the way they delt with the grief only left them with more grief.
Favorite Quote
"I’m sure it’s mostly in my head, but that doesn’t put me at ease, because the things lurking around inside the mind can be just as dangerous as tangible threats”(150).
This is my favorite quote because I believe that it is very easy to relate to for many people. Often ones mind is more terrifying then the actual object. This is extremely difficult yet important to realize when overcoming challenges.
